Founder's Vitae

 

Mr. VanArsdale is the founder of Inspection Training And Consulting (ITAC). In addition to his administrative duties, he conducts the training courses for ITAC, creates new courses for inspection and other related activities, including the course material, student textbooks, slides and transparencies, as well as develops custom training programs. He is also an industry consultant for tank and piping problems, and maintains his certifications and expertise by performing in-field inspection services. In the past, Ron was the Training Director for SGS Industrial Services North America and the Curricula and Course Development Manager for The American Welding Society (AWS). In this position he developed various training courses dealing with the AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) program. He planned, organized and developed all phases of educational activities for The American Welding Society.

Ron attended San Jacinto College and Texas A&M University, and has a Lifetime Teaching Certificate from the State of Texas. He is an AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), ITAC Level III, an API Certified Aboveground Storage Tank Inspector, and API Certified Piping Inspector, an AWS Certified Welding Educator (CWE) and is an internationally recognized Presenter/Instructor. Additionally, he received the AWS Distinguished Member Award in March, 1989, the AWS CWI of the Year District Award in January, 1993, as well as the AWS District 18 Meritorious Award in September, 1993. Additionally, he has been appointed a Kentucky Colonel by the Governor of Kentucky in recognition of his lifetime contribution to his fellow man.

He has over thirty years experience in the erection, maintenance and inspection of buildings, petrochemical facilities, vessels, above-ground storage tanks, piping systems, in addition to teaching welding/inspection education courses. Mr. VanArsdale is professionally affiliated with the American Welding Society, American Society for Nondestructive Testing, American Petroleum Institute, Vocational Industrial Clubs of America, American Inspection Society, the National Job Core.

  • Thirty years experience in the erection, maintenance and inspection of petrochemical facilities, terminals and tanks farms, as well as presenting educational courses for tank inspection, piping inspection, welding, weld inspection, and NDE inspection methods and techniques on an international scale.
  • Strong code background; experience with AWS, API, ASME and in-house specifications.
  • Well versed in writing test and welding procedures, as well as in welder qualification.
  • Experienced in maintenance and shut-down inspection.
